Green restaurants are becoming more and more popular, as restaurant owners have taken strides towards becoming more environmentally responsible. Ecologically sustainable restaurants are becoming a hot spot for green consumers, supporting these restaurants and this movement. In order to become a Green Restaurant, the restaurant needs to become certified by meeting seven of the standard criteria: water efficiency, waste reduction and recycling, sustainable durable goods & building materials, sustainable food, energy, reusables & environmentally preferable disposals, and chemical and pollution reduction. Frontera Grill & Topolobampo: Chicago, Illinois
Featuring a Yucatan menu, Frontera Grill & Topolobampo is located on Clark Street in Chicago’s River North community. The menu is broken down into 8 different categories: vibrant, fresh, ancient, bold, soulful, complex, enchanting, and luxurious. These categories range from salmon and red currant aguanchile to carne asada in mole negro, to chilaquiles, with plenty of options for desert, like the crepas con cajeta. You can build your own 3 course menu for $55, a 5 course menu for $90, or a 7 course Topolo experience for $120. All of the foods are delicious and you have the ability to choose as heavy or as light of a meal as you desire.
Del Posto: New York, New York
Featuring Italian cuisine, Del Posto is located at 85 10th Ave in New York.
Not only is the environment luxurious and upscale, the food is “palate-enlightening.” Executive Chef Mark Ladner creates spectacular dishes that have allowed the restaurant to receive the first four star review for an Italian restaurant in roughly forty years. Chef Mark Ladner even won the 2015 Beard Award for Best Chef in New York City! The menu features a prix fixe lunch for $49 where you have a three course lunch: antipasto, secondo, and dolce. A five course dinner is available for $126, where you get the antipasto, secondo, dolce, and the table shares two pasta sides. You could also choose to do the captains menu, which is eight courses for $179.
Michael & Ping’s Modern Chinese Take-Out: Brooklyn, New York
This is no ordinary chinese take out, this is so much more! Along with your beef with peapods, the menu is also infused with options like banh mi and more! You can get vegan and vegetarian plates as well as other lighter and healthier options. This restaurant never uses MSGs or frozen foods. Select from the long list of appetizers, ranging from $2.50-$8.50, soups from $6.50, salads starting at $6.95, and plenty of sides. Then for the main course, choose from chicken and beef, pork and seafood, noodles and paninis, and vegetarian meals. All meals range in price from $11.75 through $13.75, allowing you to be healthy, support the environment, and not break the bank!
