I always feel like I’m running.

I get up in the morning and make the hour-plus commute to my office in midtown Manhattan. At the end of the work day, I head home, eat a quick dinner, and head back out the door to run errands or meet up with friends. On the weekends, I get so bogged down with various plans and things I forgot to do during the week that I have almost no time to spare preparing food in the middle of the day. But a girl’s got to eat. And sometimes that means snacking on the go.

I suspect that I’m not alone in this. If you’re anything like me, you know how tempting it is to go into that pizza or sub shop when you’ve been out all day and realize you haven’t eaten lunch yet. But you don’t have to sacrifice your healthy eating habits just because you can’t be in the kitchen. Iif you take the time to prepare a snack to take with you before you go, your wallet and your waistline will thank you. Here’s my list of the best healthy portable snacks:

Remember, some good plastic containers, travel mugs, and zip-top bags are your best friends when it comes to on-the-go snacking!
