With a Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts on every corner, it’s no secret that we as a society like our caffeine. Coffee has tons of health benefits, but if you’re in the minority of non-coffee drinkers like me, a freshly brewed cup in the morning (or the afternoon. Or evening. Or all three) sounds only slightly more appealing than showering in atomic waste. However, all is not lost. There are plenty of ways to get your coffee indirectly by putting it into delicious recipes. Here are a few of our favorite healthy ways to get your caffeine fix:
Coffee Crusted Roast Chicken
via Around the Table: Loving Food in RI & Beyond
Ground coffee on chicken may sound odd at first, but the pepper, brown sugar, and garlic in this recipe come together in a perfect combination of sweet, smoky and bitter.
Coffee Granita
via A Kitchen Muse
An elegant, dressed-up version of iced coffee, this granita is sure to impress at your next dinner party. Add a pinch of cocoa or cinnamon to give it that little something extra.
Weidner Steak Marinade
via Bev Cooks
Worcestershire sauce, honey, Dijon, ginger, garlic, and crushed red pepper join coffee grounds in this delicious steak marinade.
Light Chocolate Bundt with Coffee Glaze
via Tracey’s Culinary Adventures
With no butter on the ingredient list, this is one dessert that you shouldn’t feel too guilty about indulging in. The pinch of instant espresso powder in the cake and the coffee glaze is enough to give this light cake just a hint of caffeine without too strong of a coffee flavor.
