When you’re craving a healthy, satisfying lunch but don’t have the time for a sit-down meal, what do you do? Thanks to the food truck fad, we don’t have to worry about having that problem anymore. Whether you want tacos or hamburgers, vegan wraps or frozen yogurt, there always seems to be a food truck to satisfy your every cuisine craving.

astro food truck

This is definitely one of the most unique food trucks we’ve seen in awhile. A new haven of American comfort food, Astro serves strictly doughnuts and fried chicken. If you’re not already a total lover of these two American specialties, Astro probably offers a variant of the sweet and salty dishes that will catch your eye. For the non-traditional doughnut lover, try the savory maple bacon doughnut or the smooth yet crunchy pb&j doughnut. For those not already obsessed with fried chicken, the siracha wings or spicy garlic wings may convert you.

What makes Astro unique besides their fun and out-of-the-box flavor profiles? The truck sources their ingredients from specialty food providers such as Valrhona Chocolate and Plugra Butter, and seasonal produce and fruits from local farmers. Astro changes their menu regularly according to what’s in season and switches their specialty doughnuts monthly.

Although it just opened in 2013, Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken is creating quite the stir in Washington, D.C. It has been praised by The Washington Post, Southern Living, ABC, and more.
