Chocolate is so delicious that it is hard to believe that it can actually help the body to heal medically. All this time we have been eating healthy and didn’t even know it. Here are three health benefits of chocolate that you should keep in mind.

Yes you read that correctly, stroke prevention. This little tasty morsel is capable of preventing people from having a stroke. A study was done from Epic-Norfolk that proved that people who ate 100g of chocolate each day have a lower risk of stroke and heart disease. By the way, this study included milk chocolate as well, so those of us who can’t stand the taste of dark chocolate still have a fighting chance.

Brain Health

Did you know that your brain is assisted to work better every time you taste some delectable chocolate? According to some Harvard Medical School, scientists found the blood flow in your brain is preserved when you drink two cups of hot chocolate daily. This could have a profound effect on helping your memory. One of the author’s of this research, Farzaneh A. Sorond, stated “As different areas of the brain need more energy to complete their tasks, they also need greater blood flow. This relationship, called neurovascular coupling, may play an important role in diseases such as Alzheimer’s.”

That alone is enough to make me eat chocolate everyday and send it to my grandma too.

Keep That Cholesterol In Check

It is now a fact that the plant sterols and cocoa flavanols in chocolate can help to lower the LDL cholesterol levels which could ultimately give support to the cardiovascular area of the body and help the blood pressure. Check the labels of your chocolate bars to see if they contain such ingredients and stock up. Add these to your medicine cabinets and never have high cholesterol again.

I’m not saying that chocolate is the answer to all your medical problems, but it sure helps to know that it may help with them. Keep in mind that chocolate also has sugar contents that may cause you to gain weight as well, so eat at your own risk. Pace yourself and throw in some vegetables every now and then.
